I gave birth to my son, our first child, in the heat of last summer. I spent the fall entertaining visits from friends and family, taking late afternoon walks once my husband got home from work, and driving to the mall and grocery store on the days I had our one car. When winter hit, the car went to my husband (at my own insistence) so that he didn't have to walk the 20 minutes to the bus stop in freezing temperatures, just to endure a nauseating 40 minute trip to campus. I had the car one day a week, when I would drop him off at work and then head out to whatever adventure I chose. The other four days were spent inside, with a not-yet-crawling child, as we stared out the window at our bare peach tree. It was a tough winter.
But we survived! Now we're back to taking walks twice a day, and I can claim the car whenever I want. So far, we've enjoyed throwing the softball at the big open field by Kenwood Elementary and explored the gym equipment at Zahnd Park. Unfortunately the weekends haven't been up to par with the warm weather of the weekdays, but we're hoping that will change soon.
